Fudan University delegation visits the Central and Eastern European Center of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University and signs a cooperation agreement for the “Hungarian EDC Education Development Center”

On June 2, 2025, Professor Zhang Jun, Dean of the School of Economics of Fudan University, led a delegation of “Time Pioneer” financiers to visit the “the Belt and Road” Central and Eastern European Center of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University. The theme of this visit is “Promoting Education Cooperation and Investment Dialogue”, and in-depth discussions will be held on the international situation, regional investment, and China Hungary education cooperation. The signing ceremony for the cooperation of the “Hungary EDC Education Development (Central and Eastern Europe) Center” project will also be held.

During the keynote speech segment of the seminar, Mr. Zhou Xinjian, former Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary and Coordinator for Central and Eastern Europe of the Investment Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, was invited to attend and deliver a special speech entitled “Overseas Investment in Hungary: Market Overview of Hungary 2025”. Based on a global perspective and frontline experience, Zhou Canzan systematically analyzed Hungary’s geographical location, industrial structure, economic data, development strategy, foreign investment policies, and the investment practices of Chinese enterprises in Hungary. He pointed out that Hungary, as a core country in Central and Eastern Europe, is increasingly becoming a key destination for Chinese enterprises to “go global” with its stable policy environment, superior location advantages, and complete infrastructure. The speech content is easy to understand and the data is detailed, which has won widespread attention and high recognition from the attending guests.

During the discussion and exchange session, Professor Zhang Jun, Dean of the School of Economics at Fudan University and Director of the China Center for Economic Research, and Ms. Ma Junkai, Executive Director of the Wheeler Business School, engaged in in-depth dialogue on topics such as the current international economic situation, changes in the international relations landscape, the direction of Sino US relations, regional investment trends, and global education coordinated development. Both sides agreed that the world is experiencing the biggest change in a century, and strengthening the linkage of regional education resources and the joint education of industrial talents has become the core proposition of promoting the high-quality development of the “the Belt and Road” and serving the country’s opening up strategy.

After the exchange and discussion, the event ushered in an important part – the signing ceremony of the “Hungarian EDC Education Development (Central and Eastern Europe) Center” cooperation. Under the witness of the guests at the scene, the CEEC Center of the “the Belt and Road” of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University and the School of Economics of Fudan University officially signed a cooperation agreement. Both sides rely on their advantages in education, research, and international resource linkage to carry out diversified cooperation in education, industry, policy, training, and other areas in Central and Eastern Europe, providing platform support for high-level education exchanges, coordinated industrial development, and international talent mobility between China and Hungary.

The visit of the Fudan University delegation this time is not only a high recognition of the achievements of the construction of the Central and Eastern European Center of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, but also a vivid practice of China’s top universities promoting education internationalization and deepening regional cooperation. Through high-level dialogue and platform co construction, colleges and universities have injected new momentum and opened up new paths to serve the national “the Belt and Road” initiative and help enterprises “go global”.
