The “Going Global to Central and Eastern Europe” Investment Dialogue Forum was successfully held in Budapest

On April 25, 2025, the “Dialogue Forum on Industry University Research Integration of Chinese Enterprises Going Global in Central and Eastern Europe” jointly organized by Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University and Peking University Urban Soft Power Research Institute was successfully held at the Marriott Hotel in Budapest, Hungary. The forum released the “Blue Book of Investment Opportunities and Strategies for Central and Eastern European Countries”.

Before the forum was held, President Xi Youmin of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University paid a visit to Mr. Ola Lauj ö s, Vice Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, and had in-depth exchanges on the cooperation between China and Hungary in the field of production, education, research, integration, and innovative education. In the keynote speech, President Xi Youmin’s successful practice of cultivating an international education concept of “industry, academia, research, politics, and society” for the future at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University received high attention and admiration from the attending guests.

The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Mr. Geng Jian, the industrial dean of the “the Belt and Road” initiative of XJTLU Liverpool University and the chairman of F&J International. The forum was delivered by Zhou Xiaomin, the executive chairman of the Science and Technology and Educational and Cultural Exchange Working Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of International Economic and Technological Cooperation, the deputy secretary-general of the “the Belt and Road” Research Branch of the Chinese Society of Higher Education, and Professor Laslo Borsch, the president of the Hungarian Presidents Association and the president of the Hungarian Roland University. Under the historical background of the current dramatic changes in the world pattern, the success of the forum marks a step for Chinese universities to explore innovative development of industry and education integration and internationalization, and help Chinese enterprises to deeply integrate into the economic development of Central and Eastern Europe.

The Chairman of the Hungary China Branch of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nadash Taumash, stated that the exchange between China and Hungary in the field of education is becoming increasingly close, providing a platform for young people from both countries to learn from each other. With the deepening of higher education cooperation between the two sides, more and more students are benefiting from high-quality educational resources. Oryan Alex Scherban, Vice Chairman of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and China Chamber of Commerce, put forward constructive suggestions on attracting Chinese enterprises to invest in Romania. Mr. Yanosh Setani, Dean of MCC Education College, emphasized the need to further expand the dimensions of cooperation and promote more practical achievements in curriculum, faculty, research and other aspects between the two sides.

The official release of the “Blue Book on Investment Opportunities and Strategies for Central and Eastern European Countries”, an important part of the forum, became the focus of the day. The Blue Book was jointly developed by the School of Industrialists at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, the Urban Soft Power Research Institute at Peking University, and F&J International. The Blue Book systematically analyzes the investment environment, policy trends, and risk challenges in Central and Eastern European countries, aiming to provide research results on sharing investment opportunities and strategies with Chinese enterprises investing in the Central and Eastern European markets.

More than 120 expert and scholar guests from Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University in China, as well as MCC, Roland University, Corvinus University, Economics and Technology in Hungary; Chinese and Hungarian alumni entrepreneurs, as well as guests from Hungarian Chinese banks and enterprises; Business and study abroad elites from Hungary, Romania, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Ukraine participated in this forum.

During the forum, the unveiling ceremony of “Silk Road University Alumni Entrepreneur Alliance” was held, and the unveiling ceremony of several key projects including “SLUGU International Innovation Education Center”, “Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University – Xi’an Jiaotong University Electronic and Information Department Postdoctoral Overseas Innovation Center”, “Peking University ‘Urban Soft Power Research Institute the Belt and Road’ DBA Education Base”, “MEGA Digital Film and Television and Creative Industry Innovation Base” and “Silver Age Growth European Health Center” marked that the center of the “One Belt One Road” Business Unit (Central and Eastern Europe) of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University is exploring the international development and innovation model of Chinese universities and creating a Chinese funded “going to the sea” CEE market industry, university, research and integration ecology The platform has taken a step of pragmatic, innovative and win-win cooperation on the set goal.

On the day of the forum, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from China, Hungary and other European countries launched the “the Belt and Road” Dialogue Forum on Integrated Development of Industry and Education; Dialogue Forum on Urban Soft Power and AI Creative Cultural Industry; The Sino funded “Going to Sea” CEE Investment Industry Ecological Dialogue Forum and the Sailing Plan and Innovation Practice Forum have several special forums. Against the background of the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road” into a new stage of high-quality development and profound changes in the international and domestic economic situation, the investment of Chinese enterprises in “Going to Sea” CEE is growing rapidly. The purpose of this forum is to share the research results of Chinese enterprises in the sustainable investment and development of CEE regions, practice the innovative model of integrating Chinese and Hungarian industry and education to cultivate international talents, help the “Going to Sea” high-quality development of the mass health industry and digital film and television culture industry, and explore the innovative model of building China’s urban soft power with the modern service industry as the carrier, Explore innovative models for enhancing urban soft power through the international development of modern service industries, represented by Budapest as a benchmark for European cities and China’s regional economic core cities.
